Dafydd. C. Davis MBE - IMBA UK - Wales, UK
Dafydd Davis is a true mountain biking pioneer who has played a huge and vital role in the birth and recent expansion of purpose-built mountain bike trails in Wales and other parts of the UK. Davis is responsible for planning, designing and developing over 200 kilometers of technical trails, and it is fair to say that without him Wales would not have the abundance of forest trails it has today. In fact, for his efforts, Davis has been awarded an MBE by Her Royal Majesty, the Queen of England. His areas of expertise include strategic development, trail design, trail construction, consultation/planning, training, and project management. He has been directly involved in a variety of mountain bike development strategies and feasibility studies throughout the UK.
Marion Lay - President, 2010 Legacies Now - Vancouver, BC
Marion Lay, of Vancouver, is President of 2010 Legacies Now. Marion was involved with the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation since 1998 and is past-Chair of the 2010 Bid. In 2002, she was elected to represent the City of Vancouver as a member of the Board of Directors for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC). She is also a past member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Olympic Committee. Marion is a two-time Olympian and a member of the bronze medal 4 x 100 metre freestyle relay team at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City and is also a Commonwealth gold medalist. Marion is a founding member and past chair of the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), and former director of proMOTION plus. She is also a founding member of WomenSport International. Marion holds a Master's degree in the sociology of sport from California State University at Hayward. In 2001, Marion received the International Olympic Committee Trophy for the Americas for her work in women in sport.
Jay Hoots - Hoots Gear - Vancouver, BC
Jay Hoots is the owner of Hoots Gear, a dynamic company creating safety gear and technical clothing for impact sports specializing in mountain biking. Jay is active in the community, sitting on both the District of North Vancouver Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee (ORAC) and the Natural Environment Advisory Committee (PNEAC), as well as being a contributing member and supporter of the North Shore Mountain Bike Association (NSMBA) and the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). Jay is a certified MTB coach and professional Freerider and runs his own non profit organization for youth, The DIRT Club. With experience building over 6 community 'skills parks' and several high profile Freeride contests, Jay has incredible insight on design and build process for 'skills parks' and how to focus on safety, progression and creativity.
Jeff Jackson - Algonquin College - Petawawa, ON
Jeff is a professor and coordinator with Algonquin College's Outdoor Adventure Program, a professional adventure guide training diploma. He has worked as a guide, educator and program manager for 15 years, crossing a variety of disciplines, outdoor activities and corporate cultures. He has a degree in Business Administration and a Master of Education specializing in professional development. His thesis work focused on developing judgment through the use of case study analysis. Work experience includes course leading and management positions with Outward Bound (Colorado), the National Outdoor Leadership School, and numerous commercial outfitters.
Mr. Jackson is the former head of certification for White-Water Ontario, writes a regular river conservation column for Rapid Magazine, and sits on the OTMP Outdoor Products Committee. He works as a consultant for staff training and risk management projects, speaks extensively on risk-related topics, and has several published articles.
In his 'free time', Jeff is a nationally competitive Nordic skier and mountain bike racer.
Joey Klein - IMBA - Boulder, CO
Joey works as a Trail Specialist for the International Mountain Bicycling Association, overseeing IMBA Trail Solutions planning, design, and construction projects all over the world. He has designed destination-quality, 30+-mile trail systems in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Utah, California and Idaho over the last three years. Joey has played a role in everything from planning Olympic Mountain Bike courses and assisting with the Welsh and Scottish mountain bike centers, to legitimizing the sport of mountain biking in several countries. Joey was instrumental in jump-starting IMBA's Trail Solutions program in 2002 after a three-year stint in Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program.
Before working with IMBA, Joey was employed by multiple ski areas around the world. In his free time, Joey has been able to win multiple Montezuma's Revenge mountain bike races, climb and ski the majority of Colorado's 14,000-foot peaks, and become an accomplished surfer.
