
Media Releases October 18, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE UN TO DELIVER KEY WORKSHOP SESSION
The important contribution of mountain biking to successful sustainable development programmes is recognised by the United Nations. We are very pleased to announce that the UN has acknowledged the significance of the World Mountain Bike Conference on Sustainability as a forum for international discussion. Milica Begovic of the UN Development Programme will lead a workshop session, saying “It would be my pleasure to present the work of the UNDP and the manner in which we, jointly with the municipal authorities and private sector, use mountain biking as a vehicle for income generation and poverty alleviation”.
Excellent progress is being made in developing an outstanding programme for the World Mountain Bike Conference on Sustainability, to be held in Dumfries, Scotland in May 2009. The organising team is delighted with the enthusiastic response from contributors and looks forward to delivering an exciting and informative conference and enjoyable “taste of Scotland” social programme.
